Lead by researcher at Amsterdam UMC, we participated in a cohort study that found that machine learning applied to a clinical audit containing 62,501 records and 103 preoperative variables of surgically treated patients with colorectal cancer outperformed conventional scores in predicting 30-day postoperative mortality but with similar performance as a preexisting case-mix model. New risk factors for several other adverse events may be identified.
As an increasing number of clinical decision-support systems driven by artificial intelligence progress from development to implementation, better guidance on the reporting of human factors and early-stage clinical evaluation is needed. We are honored to be part of the DECIDE-Ai consortium and get a first publication in Nature to announce our work.
With a solution for predicting infections after surgery, Healthplus.ai, PW Consulting and SAS have obtained a grant of 1.27 million euros from the REACT-EU recovery fund. The consortium will use the funding to scale and cost-effectively deploy PERISCOPE™, the artificial intelligence solution of Healthplus.ai, across multiple hospitals. PERISCOPE makes it possible to predict and reduce the number of post-surgical infections within hospitals.
